Friday evening, at approximately 6:00 pm, a two-vehicle head-on crash on State Road 350 in Dearborn County claimed the lives of a Ripley County, Indiana couple and sent their two small children to area hospitals for treatment. The driver of the other vehicle was also transported to an area hospital.

The initial investigation by the Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction Team indicated that a 2006 Ford F-150, driven by Steven Witte, age 46, Moores Hill, Indiana was traveling westbound on State Road 350. For an unknown reason, Witte’s vehicle crossed the centerline into the path of an eastbound 2017 GMC Terrain, being driven by Jordan Walters, age 33, Milan, Indiana. The vehicles collided head on in the eastbound lane of State Road 350. Following the collision, Witte’s vehicle spun around, coming to rest in the middle of the road. Walters’ vehicle left the south side of the road and came to rest down an embankment.

Witte sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported to a Cincinnati area hospital for treatment. Tragically, Jordan Walters and his wife, Sierra Walters, age 33, sustained fatal injuries in the collision. They were both pronounced deceased on the scene by the Dearborn County Coroner’s Office. The Walters’ two small children, who were back seat passengers of the vehicle, sustained injuries and were both transported to area hospitals for treatment.

At this time, the investigation remains ongoing. Toxicology tests are pending.

State Road 350 was closed for nearly four hours for crash investigation and cleanup.
