(Aurora, Ind.) – One person was killed, and two others were injured in a head-on accident in Dearborn County.

Around 12:14 a.m. Saturday, Dearborn County Dispatch put out a broadcast of a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes near Marsh Road.

When Dearborn County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene at U.S. 50 and Gatch Hill in Aurora, they observed two vehicles that hit head on.

Deputies say a female passenger, identified as Alejandra Aguero-Vazquez, 21, of Aurora, was found unconscious and trapped in the vehicle. She was transported to Highpoint Health in Lawrenceburg and later flown to UC Medical Center, where she died Sunday due to injuries sustained in the crash.

Aguero-Vazquez was an employee at Taquila's Authentic Mexican Restaurant in Aurora. The restaurant has temporarily closed out of respect for the Aguero-Vazquez family and to mourn the loss of their employee. A GoFundMe page has been set up to support the restaurant.

The driver, Carlos Solis, 28, of Aurora, was also entrapped in the vehicle. He was flown to UC Medical Center for treatment. His status was not disclosed.

Deputies say the driver of the vehicle that was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes was identified as Jeb McGeorge, 21, of Cincinnati.

McGeorge suffered minor injuries in the crash and was sent to Highpoint Health.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Aurora EMS, Aurora Fire, UCAC, Lawrenceburg EMS, Lawrenceburg Fire and Indiana State Police.
