One Injured, One Arrested Following Head-On Crash In Ripley Co.

A Lawrenceburg man suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

(Osgood, Ind.) – One person was injured, and another was arrested after a two-vehicle crash with entrapment in Ripley County.

Ripley County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash on East State Road 350 on Sunday around 10:17 p.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies located Bennett Russell, 53, of Lawrenceburg, entrapped inside his vehicle.

Benny Hartig, 29, of Holton, was the operator of the other vehicle involved. He told deputies that he was driving west on SR 350 near the intersection of 450 East when he observed Russell driving left of center. Hartig attempted to take evasive actions but was unable to avoid Russell’s vehicle. 

Russell was extracted from his vehicle and transported to Margaret Mary Health with non-life-threatening injuries.

Hartig was arrested on scene for being a habitual traffic violator for life.

Indiana State Police, Osgood Police Department, Ripley County EMS, Milan Fire, Todd's Affordable Wrecker, and Myers Marathon assisted at the scene.
