The AP program offers college-level courses and exams to high school students.
(Oldenburg, Ind.) - Oldenburg Academy is proud to announce its students’ achievements in College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) Program.
The AP program offers college-level courses and exams to high school students and students who show mastery can earn college credit at both in-state and out-of-state universities, which results in tuition savings. Moreover, the program prepares students for the rigor of college courses, which strengthens college applications.
Oldenburg Academy strongly encourages students to enroll in AP courses during their high school career, and a large percentage rise to the challenge—this year with impressive success.
OA students demonstrated particularly high proficiency in the arts and humanities.
All of OA’s 2D Art and Design students passed the exam. Notably, nearly one-third of students who took the AP Language exam earned a 5, the test’s top score. Finally, AP United States History students achieved a pass rate at the national average of 73 percent, with an impressive four students earning a 5.
The science and math departments continue to see marked improvement in their scores as well.
AP Environmental Science students posted an 88 percent pass rate, exceeding the 69 percent national rate. AP Chemistry and AP Biology students were competitive with the national average with 75 and 64 percent of students earning a passing score. Meanwhile, students in OA Pre-calculus, a new offering from College Board, achieved a pass rate of 52 percent.
OA students continue to enroll in college level AP classes in greater numbers. This year, 68 students took 145 exams. Of those students 78 percent of them earned a passing score on at least one test.
