The Senate, however, has not yet agreed to a deal on increasing Ohio's gas tax.
(Columbus, OH) -- Governor Mike DeWine is announcing that he has reached a deal on the new gas tax with the Speaker of the House.
In a statement Thursday, DeWine said they both agreed upon an eleven-cent increase on gasoline and 20-cent increase on diesel gas "to improve and maintain safer roads, bridges, highways, and intersections across Ohio."
However, that deal is also missing any agreement from the state Senate after a conference committee hearing stalled. But, a spokesperson says the two are talking as DeWine hopes the Senate also agrees heading into more talks on Friday.
The transportation budget is due for approval by the end of March.
