Ohio County Unemployment Rates Drops To Area-Best 2.7 Percent

Three southeastern Indiana counties saw their jobless rate decrease in August.

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Three southeastern Indiana counties saw their unemployment rate decrease last month. 

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development released employment data for counties on Monday. 

Locally, Ohio County had the best unemployment rate in August at 2.7 percent, down from 3.0 percent a month prior. 

Franklin County's jobless rate fell from 3.1 percent in July to 3.0 percent in August. Ripley County's unemployment rate dropped 0.2 percent to 3.1 percent. 

Dearborn and Switzerland counties saw their jobless rate hold steady in August. 

Of the five counties in the Eagle Country coverage area, all five currently have unemployment rates below the state average of 4.1 percent.
