(Jennings County, Ind.) - Jennings County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a residence in Butlerville on Saturday afternoon for a report of a female who had been battered by a male.

The suspect was later identified as Ethan Hall.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that Hall fled on foot and that he had an active felony arrest warrant through Jennings County for Child Support.

During the incident, an off-duty deputy was spending time with his family in a wooded area nearby and was contacted by Jennings County Central Dispatch to advise him of the situation. While speaking with dispatch, the off-duty deputy observed a male subject walking down a creek toward his location.

The off-duty deputy was able to make contact with the subject and safely detain Hall until on-duty deputies arrived on scene.

Hall was taken into custody without further incident.
