(Burlington, Ky.) – A Newport Police Officer was arrested Saturday for allegedly requesting explicit photos from a juvenile teen.
Tyler J. Hatfield, 30, of Burlington, is charged with Unlawful Use of Electronic Means to Induce a Minor to Engage in Sexual or other Prohibited Activities (Class D Felony).
According to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office, Hatfield used Snapchat to ask and receive explicit pictures from the victim. Hatfield is also accused of asking to have sexual relations with the juvenile.
Detectives executed a search warrant at Hatfield’s residence on Saturday night and recovered a cell phone and tablet. When interviewed, Hatfield ultimately confessed to sending explicit messages to the victim as well as requesting and then receiving an explicit picture from the victim.
Investigators say there is no evidence that Hatfield committed crimes while on duty or while in his professional capacity.
No bond has been set at this time.
