(Ripley County, Ind.) - Ripley County Community Foundation is thrilled to announce the arrival of its newest interns, who will play a vital role in supporting the organization's mission to foster a culture of giving and strategically invest resources to meet the pressing needs of the community.

We are proud to welcome Jack Freeland, a senior at Oldenburg Academy, and Owen Westerfeld, a senior at Batesville High School. Jack and Owen will be focusing on the grant making process, community development management, and nonprofit leadership. These talented students will work alongside our staff, contributing to key initiatives that directly impact the quality of life in Ripley County. Their fresh perspectives and dedicated efforts are essential to our ongoing work and our ability to grow and sustain our mission for future generations.

“We believe it is our duty to enrich the quality of life in Ripley County, not just for today, but for generations to come,” said Amy Streator, Executive Director of the Ripley County Community Foundation. “A core part of our mission is investing in the next generation. By offering a meaningful and engaging internship experience, we not only help these students develop professionally but also gain invaluable support in our day-to-day operations. Their contributions are key to helping us fulfill our promise to the community.”

“My purpose here at the Ripley County Community Foundation is to connect people who care with causes that matter,” stated Owen Westerfeld. “In doing this I hope to learn how to work to aid our community and be a part of a team to help support those in Ripley County.” Jack Feeland noted, “I am grateful to be a part of the Ripley County Community Foundation. Here I hope to learn how nonprofit organizations work and give back to their communities. I'm looking forward to helping with events and projects throughout Ripley County. This internship will help me gain valuable experience and connect with new people in the community. I'm very excited to be a part of the Ripley County Community Foundation and help make a difference in our community.”

The internship program is designed to provide hands-on experience and mentorship, connecting academic learning with real-world application in the nonprofit sector. By providing a work-based learning environment, the Ripley County Community Foundation hopes to inspire other local businesses and organizations to create similar opportunities for students. “We hope our program serves as a model for others in our community,” added Streator. “By working together to offer these kinds of learning opportunities, we can help build a stronger, more skilled workforce and ensure a bright future for Ripley County's young leaders.”

The Ripley County Community Foundation is committed to Connecting People Who Care with Causes that Matter and is located at 13 E. George Street, Suite B, Batesville.
