Mel Siefert to Serve as Interim Principal at Batesville High School

He will take over during the second semester.

(Batesville, Ind.) - The Batesville Community School Corporation Board has approved Mel Siefert to serve as interim principal of Batesville High School for the second semester of the 2025–26 school year.

Siefert will take over for Andy Allen, who was announced last week as the new superintendent at Plainfield Community School Corporation. Allen will assume his new role on January 1, 2026. He has been Batesville High School principal since 2013.

Siefert is no stranger to Batesville, having previously served as principal of Batesville Middle School as well as Plainfield High School. He also served as Batesville's varsity basketball head coach from 1993 to 2008. In that time, he led the Bulldogs to 262 wins, 10 sectional titles, four regional championships, and a semi-state appearance during the 2000-01 season.

BCSC hopes to identify the next permanent BHS principal early in the second semester, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026.
