Sign-up for Hyper-Reach Weather Alert System is encouraged

(Carroll County, Ky.) - Carroll County, Kentucky, is continuing work to strengthen public safety through the installation of 20 new emergency sirens.
The county contracted with VEI Communications earlier this year to manage the project, but the expected completion date has been extended due to scheduling delays by the installation company.
The Carroll County Fiscal Court met Tuesday, September 22, in Carrollton to hear from VEI representatives about an update on when the new sirens will be operational.
The representative reported they received a letter on September 11 from the installation company stating that they will begin installing the first 5 sirens the week of November 16.
These will be followed by additional 5 sirens each in the weeks of Nov. 30, Dec 7 and Dec 14 for a total of 20 sirens. As the sirens are installed VEI will arrange for the hook-up and inspection of electrical equipment. The possibility of weather delays was mentioned.
County officials expressed frustration with the delays. They said the project remains an important investment in public warning capabilities and emergency preparedness.
Mike Ratliff, Director of Carroll County Emergency Management Agency, wants all Carroll County residents to know about the progress being made to improve safety across the county.
While the siren installation process continues, he reminds residents that sirens are only one part of a complete emergency warning plan.
He encourages everyone to use every available source of emergency information, including Carroll County KY EMS/EMA Facebook alerts, television and radio weather announcements, and Hyper-Reach phone alerts.
Hyper-Reach is Carroll County’s mass notification service for weather and community alerts with calls, texts, email and other contact methods. The free platform sends rapid emergency messages about severe weather, missing persons, road closures, utility outages and other critical updates.
