(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - It’s 15 years behind bars for a man who beat and badly injured his infant daughter.

Joshua Schulkers, 22, was arrested last October after his seven-month-old child suffered injuries including a fractured skull, six broken ribs, and a lacerated liver.

Doctors said the infant’s injuries could have been fatal if she had not been taken to the hospital.

The incident happened on the mother’s first day back at work since giving birth.

He pleaded guilty to the crime and was given the 15 year sentence this week.
