Making Meth Leads To 10 Years In Prison

Albert Riley

(Dillsboro, Ind.) - A Dillsboro man who was dealing meth has been sentenced to a decade behind bars.

Albert Riley, 45, had reached a plea agreement with prosecutors in Dearborn Circuit Court earlier this year, pleading guilty to Manufacturing Methamphetamine, a Class B felony.

Riley was operating what investigators called a significant and sophisticated methamphetamine manufacturing operation at his home on Schmaltz Road. When the lab was discovered in April 2009, police also found a surveillance system, scales, and large quantities of materials used to make the drug.

It also appeared that Riley was using family members to purchase pseudoephedrine – a key component for the manufacture of meth - for him to make larger batches.

On November 22, Judge James Humphrey sentenced Riley to ten years in the Indiana Department of Corrections. He faced a maximum of 20 years.

Humphrey credited 176 days for time that Riley served at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center as he awaited trial and sentencing.

Riley has filed a notice to appeal his sentence to the Indiana Court of Appeals.
