Connersville Spartan Cross Country Invitational

South Dearborn’s boys and Batesville’s girls emerged as the top teams at the Spartan Invitational in Connersville Tuesday. In the boys team standings, champion South Dearborn was followed by Batesville, Hagerstown, and Connersville. Top male individuals were Seton Catholic’s Jacob Stamm (17:17.5), South Dearborn’s Joe Rector (17:34.9) and Dustin Beach (17:39.3), Connersville’s Matt Hill (17:41.4), and South Dearborn’s David Sander (17:47.0). In the girls competition, top team Batesville was followed by Connersville, Hagerstown, and South Dearborn in the team standings. Top girls finishers were Batesville’s Kelsey Gausman (20:35), Hagerstown’s Hayley Rogers (20:49), Centerville’s Shelby Short (20:51), Connersville’s Sarah Repp, and Batesville’s Mary Poltrack (21:10) and Sarah Poltrack (21:18). GIRLS SOCCER

 

Lawrenceburg 8, Franklin County 0 – Lawrenceburg was up 6-0 by halftime. The Lady Tigers’ Autumn Magee performed the hat trick with three goals. Also scoring goals were Alexis Fussnecker, Phoebe Beiderhake, Alley Schmidt, Hailey Knippenberg, and Taylor Flaum. Goalies Sydney Lovins and Lauren Kittle preserved the shutout with a save a piece.

VOLLEYBALL

 

South Dearborn 3, Rising Sun 2 – 13-25, 26-24, 25-14, 16-25, 15-11 – This dramatic match wasn’t without great games by individuals from both teams. South Dearborn’s Delaney Murphy led the team with 54 hits, 11 kills, 19 digs and 1 ace. Junior, Setter, Haley Higham had 17 assists and Junior, Libero, Sydney Senger had 24 digs. Rising Sun’s Tiffany Vinup (13 kills) and Alix DeDreu (12 kills, 28 digs.) Other Lady Shiner players with double-digit digs for Rising Sun were Bailey Baker (38), Kelsey Romans (19), Haley Presley (18), and Bailee Bostic (15).
