Local Nurse Seeking Kidney for Lifesaving Transplant

Doctors said it would be best to have as many donors as possible.

Tayler Benham.

(Milan, Ind.) – A local woman needs a new kidney.

Tayler Benham, 22, originally from Moores Hill, but now residing in Milan, was hospitalized right before July 4th for GFR and metabolic acidosis. A kidney biopsy showed that Benham’s kidneys are 90 percent scarred and there is no chance of recovery of any function.

Benham, a South Dearborn High School graduate, recently got engaged and just became a nurse.

“I still have so much to give to our community,” Benham tells Eagle Country 99.3

Benham recently had an appointment with the transplant team at Christ Hospital. Doctors said it would be best to have as many donors as possible.

“I have started dialysis and do it through my stomach called peritoneal dialysis. The faster I get a match the faster I become a normal person again! Please consider donating a kidney to save my life,” said Benham.
