(Aurora, Ind.) - Local police officers helped hundreds of kids to a merry Christmas by taking them shopping on Saturday.

The Laughery Valley Fraternal Order of Police held its annual Cops & Kids shopping program at the Walmart Supercenter in Aurora.

Officers from departments across southeastern Indiana took nearly 300 kids shopping for Christmas presents.

No Shave November fundraisers at the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department and the Aurora Police Department helped make it possible. So did sales of a special t-shirt sold at Combs Pizza in Aurora. Many others also donated funds to the FOP Lodge.

Families selected to “shop with a cop” are screened through the Southeastern Indiana Economic Opportunity Corporation.
