With the governor's signature, the bills will go into law.

INDIANAPOLIS - Three bills authored by State Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) passed out of the House of Representatives Tuesday.

Senate Enrolled Act 55 would create a state soybean marketing development program and a pork marketing development program in the unlikely event the federal programs go away.

"Many states have created backup agricultural marketing development programs to help expand different agriculture markets if the federal programs are eliminated," Leising said. "This legislation would do the same thing in Indiana."

Senate Enrolled Act 230 would require soil and water conservation district boards to appoint individuals to fill supervisory roles if three or more vacancies occur.

"It is important for Indiana to keep soil and water conservation districts functional and be able to respond to the natural resource needs of the community," Leising said. "SEA 230 would help achieve those goals by requiring the boards to appoint individuals to fill supervisory roles if three or more vacancies occur."

Senate Enrolled Act 249 would adopt existing animal food administrative rules into law.

"Ensuring our pet food is labeled properly is important for the safety of our animals," Leising said. "This legislation would authorize the Office of State Chemist to review and label pet food or specialty pet food using the requirements promoted by the Association of American Feed Control Officials."

All three enrolled acts move to the governor's desk for further consideration.
