(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Lawrenceburg Community School Corporation is holding an informational session for parents of future kindergartners.

The meeting will be talking about how the school is planning to introduce a new Spanish Dual Language Immersion Program for the 2019-2020 school year.

The informational session will be held at Lawrenceburg Primary School on Wednesday, February 20 from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. the session will include a program overview, research-based benefits, and a Batesville Community Schools immersion parent and student panel.

Dual language immersion has been taking place at Batesville Primary and Intermediate schools since Batesville Community Schools received a state grant to begin a Chinese Mandarin program in 2016. According to the school district, research shows that kindergarten aged students have twice as many connections to their brain than an adult does making it easier for them to learn a new language.
