(Aurora, Ind.) - If you are from Aurora or the surrounding area, chances are you know how talented Kristine Kabbes and The Skallywags are.
Kabbes' talent was recently recognized as she was named the winner of Interstate Music’s Best Female Artist Award.
The Best Female Artist of the Year Award not only celebrates the winner’s talent, but also their dedication to music.
Kabbes, an Aurora native, has performed the last eight years on Broadway in Nashville and is backed by her band, The Skallywags, which features her husband, Mike Dittmer.
“I’m trying not to cry,” said Kabbes during the awards show. “It’s really sweet. I’m at a loss for words. I can’t believe it. Just know that I’m so honored. It’s amazing.”
Kabbes beat out four other nominees to win the award. You can see her award-winning moment in the video player below around the 26:00 mark.
