Jennings County Man Killed in Morning Crash

(Jennings County, Ind) - Indiana State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Thursday morning just east of North Vernon.

The initial investigation indicated that shortly after 7:30 a.m., a blue 1998 Toyota passenger car, being driven by William Rabe Jr., 54, of North Vernon, was traveling westbound on U.S. 50 near Private Road 125 East.

For an unknown reason, his vehicle crossed the center line into the path of a vehicle driven by Daniel Plumm, 36, of North Vernon.

Rabe sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Plumm was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment before being transferred to Indianapolis for further treatment.

The investigation by the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Police is ongoing.  Toxicology results are pending but alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor at this time.
