The program bring non-perishable food items to students on a weekly basis.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Each week, students will have the ability to reserve a bag filled with items such as oatmeal, peanut butter, chips, and crackers. These bags will then be available for pick-up at the Lawrenceburg Campus. The program, “Snacks on the Go”, was created after a survey conducted at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic indicated that a number of students within the Lawrenceburg service area were directly impacted by food insecurity.

The program is made possible through funds provided by the Ivy Tech Foundation’s COVID Relief Fund and Circle of Ivy, the college’s women’s philanthropy group and is administered through IvyCares. IvyCares, sometimes called “wraparound services”, connects students with campus and community resources. IvyCares focuses on helping students in four major areas including, transportation needs, food insecurity, mental health, and emergency funds. “The Lawrenceburg and Batesville Campus Foundation Office is pleased and proud to be able to partner with IvyCares to provide our students with the nourishment they need to aid in their academic success”, said Loretta Day, Director of Development.
