(Hanover, Ind.) – One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Jefferson County on Wednesday morning.
Troopers from the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post responded to the crash on State Road 56 near Kuntz Road in the Hanover area around 9:00 a.m.
According to a news release, a 1997 Chevrolet truck, driven by Richard Casey, 42, of Laconia, Indiana was traveling westbound when for an unknown reason his vehicle crossed the centerline and collided nearly head-on with a 2019 Freightliner semi pulling a trailer.
Casey sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Freightliner was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation and toxicology results on both drivers is pending.
State Road 56 was closed for nearly seven hours for crash investigation and cleanup.
