Icy, Windy, Frigid Conditions Monday

Eagle Country is trying to stay warm during the winter onslaught.

File photo(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Snow and ice have moved out of the tri-state, but it still feels like winter.

Snowfall totals from Saturday night into Sunday morning included 6 ½ inches at CVG, 3 ½ inches in Aurora, and five inches in Batesville.

The National Weather Service says wind chills Monday morning are down to -10 in some areas. That means that ice is a possibility on main roads, with many side roads remaining ice-covered.

Dearborn and Ohio counties are each under a yellow, or level 1, travel advisory. Franklin, Ripley, and Switzerland counties are under more serious orange, or level 2, travel watches, according to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security.

Some area schools have Monday off in observance of MLK Jr. Day. Those who are supposed to have classes Monday have called for delays or closed. You can find a local list of school announcements on our Closings & Delays page.

You are being reminded to dress appropriately if you have to head outside Monday.

Southeastern Indiana REMC customers are reminded that the electric cooperative has signaled for a Critical Peak Load Conservation event Monday from 7:00-9:00 a.m. "Please help us "Beat the Peak" by conserving energy during this time."
