I-74 Business Corridor Group Receives Duke Energy Grant

The economic development organization will use the grant to help attract jobs and investment to southeastern Indiana.

(Plainfield, Ind.) - Duke Energy will provide funding for marketing properties along Interstate 74 for economic development.

The I-74 Business Corridor Group is an organization representing Dearborn, Decatur, Franklin, Ripley, Rush and Shelby counties as well as the City of Batesville. It markets more than 6,000 available acres and existing structures for businesses seeking expansion or a new home.

Duke Energy announced April 22 that 19 economic development groups across Indiana will receive grants of up to $5,000 from its Marketing Partnership Program.

“The Marketing Partnership Program and the Foreign Direct Investment Partnership Program are designed to help local economic development groups strengthen marketing efforts to help attract jobs and investment to the communities within our Indiana service territory,” said Erin Schneider, director of economic development for Duke Energy Indiana.

The I-74 Business Corridor Group’s goal is to attract new jobs and investment along 80 miles of the interstate highway between Indianapolis and Cincinnati.

To qualify for program consideration, the I-74 group and other applicants had to submit a marketing plan that has a direct impact on the community’s economic growth and supports Duke Energy’s economic development goals. Grant funding does not include travel, lodging, food and beverage and entertainment expenses.
