(Carroll County, Ky.) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 6 Office announces an evening/overnight I-71 ramp closure in Carroll County on Wednesday, July 19.
Weather permitting, crews will close the I-71 northbound off-ramp (mile point 44.4) to KY 227 (Carrollton) for a 12-hour period beginning at 8 p.m. The ramp will reopen to traffic the following morning.
Message boards are in place to warn motorists of the upcoming ramp closure. Motorists should seek an alternate route during the closure.
This ramp closure is part of a larger emergency maintenance project on I-71 in Gallatin and Carroll Counties. The project will address base failures, followed by milling and resurfacing portions of the interstate in the project area. This work will require overnight single lane closures on I-71 from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. All lanes will remain open, in both directions, during daytime hours. Crews will be working nightly Sunday through Thursday.
Motorists should slow down and pay attention when driving near the work zone. While work is being performed overnight, minor delays are still possible.
This $3,958,757 emergency project was awarded to Hinkle Contracting. The expected completion date is October 15, 2023.
