UPDATE: Heat Advisory Upgraded to Extreme Heat Warning for Tri-State Area

Update published Tuesday, June 30 at 7:33 AM: 

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has upgraded a Heat Advisory to an Extreme Heat Warning for the tri-state area. 

Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values around 105 expected.

The Extreme Heat Warning is in effect until 8:00 PM Thursday. 

Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.

(Wilmington, Oh.) - Summer heat is here. 

With daytime highs in the 90s and heat index values expected to exceed 100 for a majority of this week, the National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the tri-state area. 

The advisory will run from noon today until 8:00 p.m. Thursday. 

Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. 

The National Weather Service recommends you drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
