Harvest Time Brings 112th Versailles Pumpkin Show

By Alison Wiegand Photo by Versailles Lions Club (Versailles, Ind.) - The opening ceremony for one of Indiana's oldest festivals is taking place Wednesday. The 112th Versailles Pumpkin Show will take place through Sunday on the Ripley County Courthouse Square in Versailles, two blocks north of U.S. 50. Look for the carnival sounds and lights. Initially the festival included the judging of farm products, flower arrangements, fancy sewing, culinary skill and other handicrafts. Over the years,  parades and commercial rides have been added. Even a big Pumpkin Show Saturday Night Dance has been included. The festival is organized by the Versailles Lions Club every year.
