(Greensburg, Ind.) - The death of a Greensburg Police officer has been ruled a suicide.

Larry G. Dance, 42, was a lieutenant with the department. He was found shot dead in his home on Tuesday night.

After an autopsy was performed Wednesday in Indianapolis, the Decatur County Coroner’s Office has deemed Dance’s death a suicide. He died of a single, self-inflicted gunshot.

The Greensburg Police Department released a statement Wednesday.

“We are deeply saddened at this sudden, unexpected death of Larry. He has been an officer with our agency since January 1, 1995. Larry was always a professional and loved his job and cared about the people and community he served and will be sadly missed. He is survived by his wife and two teenage daughters,” the statement said.
