(Greensburg, Ind.) – A new Honda model will be built at Honda Manufacturing of Indiana in Greensburg starting next spring.
HMIN announced Monday the plant in the Tree City will be the exclusive manufacturer of the new Acura ILX luxury sedan.
The ILX will be offered with either a gasoline or gas-electric hybrid engine, making it Acura’s first hybrid.
"Building this all-new Acura vehicle as the exclusive global source is a big responsibility for our associates," said HMIN President Jun Nishimoto. "I am very proud of what our Indiana team has accomplished in such a short time, and we have great confidence in our ability to produce a world-class luxury vehicle that exceeds the expectations of Acura customers."
Since the plant opened in 2008, HMIN has manufactured only Honda Civic sedans. The facility doubled its workforce to 2,000 associates earlier this year.
