Greensburg Man Killed in Collision with Train

The accident took place on Monday afternoon.

(Greensburg, Ind.) – Indiana State Police-Versailles Post responded to a car versus train crash on Monday afternoon.

The initial investigation indicated that a 2006 Dodge Caravan, being driven by Charles A. Papenhaus, turned southbound onto County Road 200 East from State Road 46, and was struck by a westbound train.

The accident was reported around 12:30 p.m.

Papenhaus, 78, of Greensburg, sustained fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neither of the two occupants of the train were injured in the collision.

The crash remains under investigation.
