(Dover, Ind.) – Nearly 1,400 people decided to work off a few calories at the Gobble Wobble 5K before they sat down for their Thanksgiving dinner.
The 5th Annual Thanksgiving Day race in Dover raised a record $41,665.66 for the North Dearborn and Sunman food pantries. The fundraising total is up by more than $10,000 from the 2017 edition of the event, which was first held in 2014.
Twenty-nine degree temperatures did not deter people from across the tri-state from coming out for the race, which spanned Sawmill Road. Of the participants, 1,121 were from Indiana, 162 from Ohio, and 14 from Kentucky.
Some participants came from points beyond: Carolina, Colorado, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, Rhode Island, Texas, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.
This year's race winners were Jonah Woods of North Vernon (16:32) and Megan Cole of Versailles (18:12).
