Full Day of Fun Scheduled at City of Greendale 4th of July Celebration

Get up early for the 5K and stay late for the fireworks.

(Greendale, Ind.) - The City of Greendale will celebrate Independence Day with their annual Fourth of July festivities on Friday. 

To ensure the safety of residents and attendees, there will be road closures and parking restrictions. 

Due to the 5K race, from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., the following intersections will be closed on Nowlin Avenue: Parkside, Park Grove, Cora, Haag, and Probasco. 

For the Fishing Derby, there will be no parking from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Nowlin between Arthur and Cora. 

The Bike Parade will begin at Oakey Park and end at Greendale Park, and there will be barricades in place along the route from 1:30pm to 2:30pm. These barricades will be placed at Dejerus Lane to Oakey on Sheldon, from Sheldon to Nowlin on Oakey, between Oakey Ave and Park Street on Nowlin.

Beginning at 6:00 p.m., there will be no parking signs posted on Rand Ave between the City Garage and Nowlin, on Nowlin between Park Street and 22 Lauren Hill Lane, on 22 Lauren Hill Lane between Nowlin and Sunset Drive, as well as on Tanner between Park Street and Cook.

From 6:00 to 11:00 p.m, no golf carts or motorized vehicles are permitted on Rand, Tanner between Cook and Park, or on Nowlin between Cook and Rand due to high pedestrian traffic.

Please use caution traveling in area and use alternative detours and routes available

Ridge Avenue will remain open to golf cart traffic from Cook to Decker during the festivities.

Kids Bike Parade Info

The Kids Bike Parade kicks off on Friday, July 4th with lineup beginning at 1:30pm on Sheldon Street next to Oakey Park. The parade will begin at 2:00pm and will follow this route:

Oakey Avenue → right on Nowlin Avenue → ending at the Greendale Park parking lot.

Kids can pick up a free T-shirt sponsored by Greendale Main Street and Ohio Valley Screen Printing as well as a bike helmet and drawstring bag provided by INDOT’s #bikeINSafe initiative!

Giveaways will be available at the tables set up near the Oakey Park concession stand.

5K

To register or for questions about the 5K Run/Walk, please visit https://www.voicesofindiana.org/greendale-4th-of-july-5k. Registration will now remain open through morning of the race.

Fishing Derby

The fishing derby runs from 9:00am to noon, and only fish caught during that time will be judged by the Greendale Police Department and Lawrenceburg High School students. Kids ages 2 to 12 may participate and they will also receive a goodie bag!
