(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - The City of Lawrenceburg may be scaling back the amount of money it grants to governments and municipalities around southeast Indiana.
The Franklin County Observer reports that Lawrenceburg leaders have informed Franklin County Council members that they will not issue what had become an annual $500,000 grant to Franklin County in 2014.
Reduced revenues at Hollywood Casino thanks to the dawn of Ohio casino gaming are catching the blame.
In crafting a budget, Franklin County Council had anticipated the Lawrenceburg grant money continuing in 2014, although that spending plan is still being reviewed by the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance. It is unclear what, if any, spending cuts the council will make to compensate for the decreased revenue.
