Franklin Co. Commissioner Under Investigation

(Batesville, Ind.) - An ambulance service raided last week by federal agents is owned by a local elected leader.

Last Wednesday, agents with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General executed a search warrant at Tri-County Ambulance, Inc. in Batesville.

The private ambulance service is owned by Franklin County Commissioner Tom Wilson and his wife, Willa Wilson, according to the Indiana Secretary of State’s business registry. Wilson is listed as vice president while his wife is listed as president and secretary of Tri-County Ambulance.

The Franklin County Observer reports that neighbors saw agents also at the Wilson’s home that same day.

Nobody, including the federal agents, are talking about what prompted the investigation. The search warrants were sealed from public viewing according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Franklin County Commissioners will meet Monday evening for their regular monthly meeting.

In addition to it's home office in Batesville, the for-profit company Tri-County Ambulance also operates out of locations in Greendale and Shelbyville.
