Former Dillsboro Volunteer Fire Department member James Ralph "Jim Vinup passes away at 84

Family and friends may gather in remembering Jim from 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, August 28, at the Filter-DeVries-Moore Funeral Home in Dillsboro.

(Dillsboro, IN) - James Ralph “Jim” Vinup, 84, of Dillsboro passed away Monday, August 25 with his loving family by his side. Jim was born on Wednesday, August 20, 1941, in Milan; son of Ralph and Leona (Pieper) Vinup. He married the love of his life, Joan (Disbro) Vinup, on May 8, 1959, and she preceded him on August 28, 2012.

Jim worked at Monsanto as a welder. He was a member of the Dillsboro Volunteer Fire Department and the Laughery Valley Fish and Game Club. He enjoyed going hunting, fishing, and camping.

Jim will be missed by his daughters Joanie Farmer of Dillsboro, Regina (Charles) Keller of Lawrenceburg, and Jamie (Eddie Cochran) Kinnett of Dillsboro; sister Irene Vinup of Milan; grandchildren Dustin Beam, Janson Kinnett, Tiffany Beam, Britney Farmer, and Travis Farmer; and great-grandchildren Hayden, Breaden, Tessa, Conner, Declan, and Malcolm.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Leona Vinup; wife Joan Vinup; sister Joyce Hoover; and brothers Ray, Bill, and Butch Vinup.

Family and friends may gather in remembering Jim from 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, August 28, at the Filter-DeVries-Moore Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 29, at the funeral home with Pastor Keith Allhands officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. Memorials may be given in honor of Jim to Dillsboro Volunteer Fire Department or to the donor’s choice.
