(Southeast Indiana) - The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Franklin and Ripley counties.

The Flash Flood Warning is in effect until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, between two and four inches of rain have fallen.

Some locations that may experience flash flooding include Batesville, Versailles, Milan, Osgood, Oldenburg, Lake Santee, Sunman, Metamora, Holton, Napoleon, Versailles Lake, Ballstown, Otter Village, Huntersville, Olean, Penntown, Benham, Interstate 74 at State Route 101, New Marion and Friendship.

A Flash Flood Watch will run until 11:00 p.m. Wednesday for the entire tri-state area.

Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Additional thunderstorms are expected through Wednesday.

Locally heavy rainfall and the potential for storms to repeatedly track over the same areas are possible. This will result in the potential for flash flooding.

People in the watch area should keep an eye on the weather and be prepared for immediate action should heavy rains and flooding occur or a Flash Flood Warning be issued. Avoid low-lying areas and be careful when approaching highway dips and underpasses.
