(Gallatin County, Ky.) - Motorists should be aware of evening and overnight lane closures on Interstate 71 in Gallatin County.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC), crews will be drilling into the pavement in various locations to collect core samples.
The left two lanes of traffic will be blocked on I-71 northbound between the KY 1309 and KY 35 exits (mile point 56) and south of KY 455 (mile point 60). In the area where there are only two lanes, near mile point 56, there will be a single left lane closure while crews perform this work.
This work will be performed between the hours of 10 p.m. on Thursday, March 6 and 6 a.m. on Friday, March 7.
All lanes will reopen by Friday, March 7 at 6 a.m. The project is being done during evening/overnight hours to minimize traffic disruptions.
Motorists are reminded to drive carefully near the work zone to keep our crews safe.
