EF-1 Tornado, Straight Line Winds Did Damage In Madison

(Madison, Ind.) - It was a tornado that touched down near Madison on Saturday evening. The National Weather Service says an EF-1 tornado with winds around 100 MPH struck an area a couple miles north of Clifty Falls State Park. The twister damaged homes, knocked over trees and split utility poles. There were also straight line winds up to 100 MPH that did damage, including ripping the roof off of a bowling alley on Madison’s hilltop. People inside Ten Pin Alley were not hurt. Hundreds of people in the area were without power after the Saturday storms. Duke Energy and Southeastern Indiana REMC crews had all service restored by Sunday evening.
