(St. Leon, Ind.) – Hitting a home run or striking out a batter feels good, but so too does serving your community.

For the East Central baseball team, they put down their bats and gloves on Saturday and went weed wrangling at Bright Meadows Community Park.

With the help of Dearborn County Soil & Water Conservation District, Purdue Extension Dearborn County and others, the young men were apart of an effort to remove thousands of invasive weeds from all sections of the park.

The work not only keeps the park looking good but also helps plants, pollinators and wildlife thrive.
