The organization is now accepting donations online to help with with managing and improving park facilities.

(Dearborn County, Ind.) - The Dearborn County Park Board has published a major update to its website, which includes a complete re-design and new logo. Coinciding with website updates, a Facebook page has also launched to better connect community members with the park system. As of Monday, November 18, 2019; donations are now accepted online.

For more than a decade, community members have enjoyed visiting the Dearborn County Parks website to make reservations, view maps, and follow park updates. The new site, launched in cooperation with Harrison, Ohio-based IHN Consulting, is completely modernized and adaptable for use on smartphones, tablets and similar devices. The new logo design was completed in partnership with Tamara Taylor and FX Design.

Donations have long been an important part of managing and improving park facilities. The addition of an online donation tool will simplify the process for community supporters.

Five different county parks are managed by the board, which consists entirely of volunteers and the Purdue Extension - Dearborn County Agriculture and Natural Resource Educator. Parks are located across the county in both rural and suburban areas of Bright, Guilford, and Manchester.

Recent improvements to the county park system include new shelters at County Farm Park, system-wide bathroom upgrades, and remediation of the historic barn located at Gladys Russell Wildlife Refuge. A new playground at Bright Meadows Park, made possible by a Dearborn Community Foundation Grant, will be completed in early 2020.

Public board meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month, either at a park or the Purdue Extension – Dearborn County office located in Aurora. The board is also seeking new members, with current and expected vacancies looming.
