(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - The Dearborn Community Foundation (DCF), Inc. recently awarded a $1,000 Proactive Grant to 1Voice, Inc., a Dearborn County-based not-for-profit recovery organization that provides education, peer support services, and a supportive drug addiction recovery community in Southeastern Indiana.

In its 26th year of helping donors make a difference, DCF is awarding 15 proactive grants of $1,000 each throughout 2024 to charitable organizations that serve Dearborn County residents. Each of the Foundation’s 15 volunteer Board members is recommending a grant. The money comes from the Foundation’s Unrestricted Endowment Funds, established by donors to provide flexibility to address changing needs in the community over the years.

The $1,000 grant recommended by DCF Board member Mike Hollenback, an attorney, will help support 1Voice's Youth Group and other general needs of the organization. 1Voice is a home-grown Indiana certified recovery community organization that provides much needed substance abuse support services, including employing Certified Peer Recovery Coaches, to assist residents along their journey, he said.

“In a major expansion, 1Voice has recently taken over the Peer Recovery Specialists Program at Dearborn County Jail,” said Hollenbeck. “They are helping make Dearborn County a statewide leader, providing cutting-edge interventions to address the substance abuse health crisis facing communities everywhere.”

Hollenbeck says the DCF grant will help Invoice expand its vital efforts. “I have worked with both 1Voice, and their new peers located at the Law Enforcement Center, for a number of years in directing assistance to clients as they begin to heal from their substance abuse disorders,” he said.
