Maxwell Construction began working on a new athletic facility at Backman Field in August. The building will consist of ADA compliant restrooms, concession area, locker rooms and coaches offices for football, soccer, and track, a training room, and a center meeting area with flexible seating arrangement.

At Tuesday's school board meeting, Superintendent Eric Lows gave an update on the project, saying "crews are making tremendous strides."

The project is right on time and it is possible that construction could be completed by the end of May The plan all along has been to have the facility ready to go for the 2024 fall sports season.

Crews will spend a majority of the winter months working on the interior of the building.

When completed, the new facility will be three to four times larger than the previous building.
