(Bright, Ind.) - There is a silver lining to Jamison Road in Bright being closed -- it’s going to get cleaned up by the Bright Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday, May 11, as part of the Dearborn County Anti-Litter Initiative.

“Once again, as it has many times over the years, the Bright Fire Department is stepping up to clean up the area,” said Celeste Calvitto, founder and chair of the Dearborn County Anti-Litter Initiative.

“The members of Bright Fire & EMS are happy to continue to serve our neighbors by helping to clean up our community,” said Chief David Shumate.

Volunteers from the community are asked to help pitch in. Meet at the firehouse on Salt Fork Road at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 11. Details can be found on the Dearborn County Anti-Litter Initiative Facebook page, facebook.com/DearbornCountyAntiLitterInitiative/.  If interested in helping out, please message or comment on Facebook so the Fire Department can make sure there are enough supplies.

The Initiative is looking for people in all parts of Dearborn County to lead efforts to clean up their neighborhoods, roads or favorite places. “We will be happy to promote the project on Facebook to help get more volunteers, and post submitted photos of the clean-up,” Calvitto said. “This encourages others to do the same. Please take a look at the Facebook page to see what your neighbors have been doing to help.”
