Brown Resigns As South Dearborn HS Basketball Coach

By Mike Perleberg File photo. (Aurora, Ind.) - South Dearborn High School varsity basketball coach Mike Brown is leaving the Knights program. Mike Brown resigned this week. SDHS Athletic Director Ryan Walston notified the community in a letter Wednesday. “The boys’ basketball program will start the 2017-2018 school year without Head Coach Mike Brown. We will continue forward with the established programs and scheduled summer activities. Moving forward it will take the time and commitment of all players, parents/guardians, administrators, and basketball coaching personnel at all levels to succeed,” Walston said. “Together we can, and will, move the program forward in a positive direction,” he added. In two years as head coach, Brown’s teams had a combined record of 6-42. He came to Aurora with a great coaching pedigree, having won more than 460 games in 29 years as a head coach in Indiana. Walston tells Eagle Country 99.3 he credits Brown with starting youth basketball programs that will be pivotal to South Dearborn's future success. A search for a new coach has already begun with the job opening posted online. "I anticipate receiving quality applicants, and will be selecting a hiring committee to help choose the most qualified applicant for our program," Walston says. When reached by email Friday, Brown said he may comment at a later time.
