(Boone County, Ky.) – The Boone County Sheriff’s Office is setting the record straight about a video that recently circulated on social media.
The video showed two Boone County deputies removing large bags of mail from a wood line in Hebron.
Some suggested the bags were filled with discarded ballots from the November 3 General Election. In a Facebook post Monday, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office said the assumption was false.
The Sheriff’s Office added that they were notified on November 7 that the discarded packages had been found off North Bend Road.
Deputies responded to the area and removed five bags from the woods, which contained Amazon packages that had been opened. A representative from Amazon came to the scene and confirmed the packages came from one of the local facilities, concluding the investigation.
“It is our hope that this added context will eliminate any further speculation,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Monday.
