The 12-week residency will give a local creative professional the opportunity to share their skills and expertise

(Batesville, Ind.) - Batesville Memorial Public Library (BMPL) is seeking a creative professional from Southeastern Indiana to become the first Maker-in-Residence at its Arts & Innovation Hub.
The 12-week residency will give a local artist, maker, recording professional, podcaster, or other creative the opportunity to share their skills and expertise while engaging the community through hands-on learning and creative experiences.
For its inaugural residency, BMPL is particularly interested in an audio professional or recording artist who can help introduce the community to the Hub’s Create Recording Studio and inspire others to explore audio, music, podcasting, and related creative mediums.
“We want the Maker-in-Residence program to connect talented creatives with our community and give patrons the opportunity to learn directly from someone who is passionate about their craft,” said BMPL Director Kim Porter. “This residency is about sharing knowledge, encouraging creativity, and helping people discover what they can create.”
The selected resident will receive a $2,500 stipend and will complete 72–96 hours over the 12-week residency. Responsibilities will include:
- · Teaching 6–8 public classes or workshops
- · Providing one-on-one instruction
- · Offering drop-in office or studio hours
- · Creating training videos for future Create Studio users
The residency schedule and programming will be developed collaboratively with the selected resident.
Applications are due November 1 to director@ebatesville.com.
Applicants should submit an artist statement, resume, maker biography, up to six samples of work, a teaching proposal, and information about other commitments that may overlap with the residency.
Applications will be considered based on creative experience, artistic approach, and the ability to develop engaging, accessible learning opportunities for the community.
