(Batesville, Ind.) - The Batesville Community Education Foundation (BCEF) is seeking community members invested in education to serve on its board of directors.

The BCEF board guides the strategic initiatives of the nonprofit that supports the students and staff of the Batesville Community School Corporation (BCSC). The BCEF board is a hybrid governing/working board that assists its part-time executive director in carrying out the foundation’s mission.

“We currently have one vacancy on our board,” explained Leacarol Bennett, BCEF board president, “however, by the end of this calendar year, when other members’ terms expire, we may have additional openings. We welcome alumni, BCSC parents or grandparents, our donors, and other interested community members to apply for consideration.”

BCEF board members meet six times a year and assist with foundation duties as needed in between, volunteering their time and talent to provide the programming and support the public schools need to thrive.

“With the recent budget cuts to public schools, our foundation will likely play an even greater role in providing funding for Bulldog Ready—the school corporation’s community-connected learning initiative—and other programs at BCSC,” Bennett added. “Now is a great time to get involved.”

The Batesville Community Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides additional funding for innovative learning opportunities that go beyond the basics in academics, athletics, and the arts in the Batesville public schools, enhancing the educational environment for all students. Some of BCEF’s programs include Bulldog Ready funding, classroom grants, and the Art on Main mural project in downtown Batesville, as well as large capital projects such as the Batesville Primary School outdoor learning complex and the Batesville High School Student Success Center.

To apply for consideration, email BCEF executive director Anne Wilson at awilson@batesville.k12.in.us.
