Batesville, JCD Approved Balanced Calendars

(Batesville, Ind.) – Two more local school districts will be on balanced calendars next year.

Jac-Cen-Del’s School Board has approved the balanced calendar for the 2012-13 school year on November 16, joining other districts such as Lawrenceburg, South Dearborn, and Rising Sun.

Jac-Cen-Del students’ will have a shorter summer break with the first day on August 1, 2012 and final day on May 30, 2013.

This year’s first student day for Jac-Cen-Del was August 15, 2011 and the last day will fall on May 21, 2012 – barring snow make-up days. The calendar can be viewed at http://www.jaccendel.k12.in.us/CorporateHome/index.htm.

Meanwhile, Batesville Community Schools will also go balanced in 2012-13 after the school board voted to accept the calendar at their November 21 meeting.

Batesville students will return to class on August 8, 2012 and have their last day on May 30, 2013. The new calendar can be viewed at the corporation website, http://www.batesville.k12.in.us.

In October, Milan Community Schools rejected a balanced calendar for 2012-13 school year, opting instead for a modified calendar which includes a week-long fall break.

Sunman-Dearborn Community School are in the midst of making a decision on its 2012-13 calendar. The district is currently conducting an online survey of school and community members. Results of the survey, which is open through December 5, will be given at the board’s December meeting.
