New Aurora K9 Officer Cento.
City of Aurora
(Aurora, Ind.) - There’s a new four-legged crime fighter with the Aurora Police Department.
The department’s old K9 officer, Cib, retired in January after five years taking a bite out of crime. To fill those pawprints, Belgian malinois/German shepard mix Cento began work as the Aurora Police K9 Unit this month, partnering with Officer T.J. Pendergast.
Funding for the new K9 was provided to the City of Aurora by the Dearborn Community Foundation.
Cento is a fully-trained and certified Dual Purpose Narcotic Detector Dog. He can sniff out drugs or track fleeing suspects.
The 1.5-year-old K9 and Pendergast completed training together on March 9. They’ve already assisted with numerous searches.
