(Dillsboro, Ind.) - An Aurora EMS vehicle has been placed in service to assist the area of Dillsboro.

As of Monday morning, Aurora EMS will be staff with an EMT-B or higher 24/7 and respond to Dillsboro from the Dillsboro Firehouse.

The Aurora EMS vehicle is equipped with needed supplies to provide care until the transport life squad can arrive.

"We are excited for the new partnership and look forward to assisting them however we can. If you see them out and about please welcome them to the community," reads a Facebook post from Dillsboro Volunteer Fire Department.

This deployment is a temporary solution aimed at enhancing emergency medical services in the area until a long-term EMS plan can be implemented.

In July of 2024, Dearborn County Commissioners decided to not pursue a contractual relationship with the Dillsboro Emergency Ambulance Unit (DEAU) due to poor response rates.

Later that month, Dearborn County Commissioner’s entered a contract with the Dillsboro Fire Department to be the first responders on EMS emergency calls in Dillsboro.
